How do people get to hear....

How do people get to hear the Christian message within our circles of influence?

"It is very striking in the book of Acts how much of the apostles' testimony came as a prophetic comment on some in breaking of the Spirit which had just taken place.

Acts 3:12 is one of many such examples: "When Peter saw this, he said to them 'Men of Israel, why does this surprise you?  Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?"  And so Peter unfolds the story of Jesus.

In other words, we Christians need to listen to God's prophetic voice, noticing and understanding what God is doing (in this case, healing a beggar), and others will hear as a result.

It doesn't always follow this pattern of "event plus explanation", but usually it does.

In Acts 19, the context of Paul's witness was a challenge to the occult powers that defined the city's economy.  We can safely assume that Paul's debating forum in the lecture hall of Tyrannus was in part responsible for the shake up "so that all... who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord" (v10).

So, like Peter and Paul, we need to be alert to what is God doing in the situations in which we find ourselves - or more accurately in the situations He has placed us in i.e. through our academic disciplines, and then be ready to explain it to onlookers.
Evangelism such as this will be more natural, more fun and more powerful."
