Visiting our web site

You can visit our web site without sharing information about yourself or revealing any information about who you are. However if you want to join us and be part of C-A-N-  and/or attend one of our conferences we will need some information from you, such as your name and address or other personal information. We only use this information in order to communicate with you, or allow access to certain sections of our site.

We will not release any of the information provided to us to any third party, with the exception of JISCMail who maintain our e-group, working under our direct control.

Should you want us to remove your e-mail address, phone number or other information from our database we will do so at your request.

We only process personal information for the purposes of providing the best possible service to the network

Cookies

Cookies are small text files used to recognise repeat visitors and to facilitate those visitor’s access to and use of the web site. Cookies are not programs that come onto your system and damage files. If you do not want information collected through the use of cookies, there is a simple procedure in most browsers that allows you to deny or accept the cookie feature.
The C-A-N- web site does not use cookies. The CANMembers e-group [provided by JISC – the Joint Information Systems Committee] uses Java script and cookies to enhance users experience of the group. Use of these technical resources is governed by their security and use policy.

We may use IP addresses to analyse aggregate trends, administration and tracking user’s movements within the web site in order to improve its effectiveness.

We provide links to other web sites as a service. The Christian Academic Network is not responsibility nor does there exist any implied endorsement of the contents or privacy practices of such sites.

e-Group

The C-A-N- e-group is a private/moderated group. This means that the group is restricted to paid-up members only. All contributions to the group are moderated before being released to the group. The purpose of moderation is simply to protect us all from inappropriate postings (e.g. SPAM).

Use of personal information

We collect personal information in order to adminstrate membership details, subscriptions and notifying each other of matters related to the network and its aims

Security

Information may be requested via the C-A-N-website. Non-financial data is not sent via a secure server. Financial information is collected via secure server technology provided by PayPal.

Contacting Other Members

C-A-N- does not release contact details of its contacts to other members or other organisations. Members may solicit contact with others in C-A-N by publishing their own details and reasons for seeking contact only via the e-group.

Correcting / Updating personal information

In order to keep its records up-to-date C-A-N- encourages notification of any changes to personal details.

The e-group is provide as a means of facilitating the network. Members may communicate with each through the email group, the website and conferences Opting out from the e-group at any time is possible be sending an email to the Webmaster@c-a-n.org.uk
